AN AMPHITHEATRE has been built at the Guisborough Forest and Walkway Visitor Centre with the help of volunteers from an electricity company.
Fifteen employees from CE Electric UK have helped to convert an unused area of land at the centre at Pinchinthorpe, near Guisborough, into an amphitheatre, complete with tiered seating.
The new venue, with views of Roseberry Topping and the North York Moors National Park, will be used as an educational facility for visiting schoolchildren and as an events arena. The team, helped by staff and volunteers from the site, cleared the area, cut and levelled a new access path and dug foundations for the seating.
A designated area has also been constructed for wheelchair access.
Deborah Jefferson, ranger at Guisborough Forest and Walkway, said she was delighted with the efforts of the volunteers.
Guisborough Walkway is open every day and entry is free. Call (01287) 631132 for further details
