ENTRY to a meeting to discuss the implications of mobile phone masts will be by ticket-only because of unprecedented interest.
The event, in Harrogate, is being organised by the Campaign Against Masts Put Up Near Schools (Campus) and will hear from a legal expert and an authority on telecommunication masts.
The meeting is on Monday at St Robert's RC Primary School, where the hall holds only 180 people.
Peter Brooks, chairman of Campus, said it had decided to make the gathering ticket-only because of the interest it had generated.
The group is campaigning against plans for a mobile phone mast close to St Robert's, Granby High and Woodfield Primary Schools in Harrogate.
After the plan was rejected by Harrogate Borough Council, the mobile phone company lodged an appeal with the High Court. The decision from this could prove a test case for 12,000 other masts throughout the country.
Mr Brooks, whose daughters, nine-year-old Ruthie and seven-year-old Beth, attend St Robert's, said Campus was keen for representatives of mobile phone companies to attend the meeting, but so far they have not accepted the invitation.
Parents of children at three local schools are concerned about the possible health implications of a mast.
