AN addict died after taking a cocktail of drugs in his Stockton flat, an inquest was told.
Barry Gill, 25, was found unconscious in his bedsit, in Londonderry Road, on Wednesday, May 19, when his friend kicked down the door after he became concerned about him.
The hearing was told that Mr Gill had a high dependency on diazepam after being prescribed the drug to combat paranoid schizophrenia. He had also been a regular heroin user.
Andrew Crawford, who lived in the flat opposite, said Mr Gill had told him he had taken 15 diazepam tablets the day before.
The pathologist's report said Mr Gill had died as a result of an overdose after taking ten times the maximum dose of diazepam and morphine.
Assistant Deputy Coroner Anthony Eastwood recorded an open verdict.
