NATIONAL Health Service carers who look after people with mental health issues and disabilities have been given awards for their work.
Individuals and teams were given awards at a special night in Guisborough.
The ten Teesside winners were chosen from nearly 100 nominations from across the trust's area.
The overall winner was the team of five which helps people with learning difficulties at Thornaby Road in Stockton.
They were nominated by the carer of one of the patients, who said: "The staff are so thoughtful, they give so much of themselves in looking after our young adults. We can't praise them enough for the quality of life they give our sons and daughters."
Other winners were: Elano Ayres, a staff nurse at Hartlepool mental health unit; child and adolescent mental health service staff at The Westwood Centre, West Lane Hospital, Middlesbrough; Middlesbrough Addictive Behaviours Service in North Ormesby; Jane Harpin, in-patient services manager from Parkside in Middlesbrough; Tracey Pluves, a nursing assistant from St. Luke's Hospital; and Dorothy Stephenson, clinical lead at Hartlepool mental health unit.
