AN expansion of yellow lines that sparked a strong protest from a motor dealer has been stopped.
Members of a North Yorkshire County Council area committee refused to support a scheme to extend yellow lines in Ripon.
Instead, they voted for the issue to be deferred for further consultation. David Batchelor, managing director at Batchelors of Ripon, based on the city business park in Dallamires Lane, objected to the proposals for Bondgate Green Lane. He said there were already too many restrictions.
There are double yellow lines outside the main entrance to Mr Batchelor's motor company in Camp Hill Close and in five sections along Dallamires Lane. Councillors received almost 30 letters objecting to the scheme and a decision will now be taken later.
