RESIDENTS are being urged to join forces and demonstrate their community spirit.
Officers from Hartlepool Borough Council hope people will come forward and help set up a residents' association in the Clavering area.
Their appeal follows a recent Operation Clean Sweep on the estate, the council's scheme to improve quality of life on the town's estates by tackling a range of issues broadly based on the themes of crime, health, environment, safety and education.
Karen Oliver, towncare manager (north), said: "The five day Operation Clean Sweep at Clavering achieved a lot, but it is important we try to build upon the improvement works that were carried out.
"That is why we hope local people will become involved in setting up a residents' association. After all, they are best placed to know the needs of the area and the most pressing issues that need to be tackled."
People can register their interest by contacting Karen Oliver on (01429) 523680.
