A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of burglary following a break-in at Darlington's main police station.
The 17-year-old local boy was chased in the town by officers on Thursday evening who caught him and detained him at the station.
He was interviewed on Friday and bailed until November 13, pending the results of forensic examination.
Police last week described the break-in at the station, which happened on Sunday, September 26, as "embarrassing".
Officers were alerted to the incident at 10.50pm that evening after a passer-by had found 14 video tapes dumped in an alleyway behind Belvedere Road.
The man realised they were linked to the police station because of the packaging and handed them in.
When officers searched the station, in St Cuthbert's Way, they found the window of the storeroom had been broken.
A security review has since been carried out and the room is no longer used for storage.
The videos are being examined for fingerprints and officers are checking security camera footage.
