DEJECTED Hull City boss Peter Taylor is sick of the sight of Hartlepool United.

As he departed Victoria Park for the second time in five days with his tail between his legs, Taylor would be quite content never to return.

Tuesday's LDV Vans Trophy reverse on penalties was tough; Saturday's League One thumping had him criticising his side and singing Pool's praises.

"Hartlepool deserved it,'' he admitted. "We started both halves badly. My goalkeeper was at fault for the second goal, but he got a whack early on and had to continue.

"I'm disappointed that their fella whacked him and didn't get booked for it. I had no keeper on the bench and had to make do.

"Maybe that's contributed to their second goal, because it was difficult for him to get across his goal with an injury.''

He added: "We threw some balls at them, but there was no final ball and we didn't deserve to score.

"On Tuesday, we were two goals up and lost; on Saturday we were two goals down and we have got to stop conceding silly goals - it's unacceptable.

"Hartlepool are a good, solid team and will score goals.''

* Pool boss Neale Cooper will try and extend the loan of Alan Pouton after Friday's trip to Luton. The game is the last of the midfielder's month-long loan period at Pool, but the Gillingham man is believed to be keen to stay to build up his fitness after injury.

Cooper will be without Martin Woods, after the winger, on loan from Leeds, was named in the Scotland under-19 squad.

He was included in the training squad last week and will now face San Marino on Wednesday, Turkey on Friday amd Belgium on Sunday.

All the games are in Charleroi.

* Pool will travel to Carlisle - and a reunion with former favourites Kevin Henderson and Paul Arnison - in the second round of the LDV Vans Trophy on Tuesday, November 2.
