WORKERS at Stockton's Visqueen plant are preparing to go on strike despite recent warnings from bosses that industrial action could result in work being moved away from the site.
Last ditch talks broke down earlier this week with union officials accusing the management at the Yarm Road plant of British Polythene Industries(BPI) of provoking workers in to strike action.
A ballot of around 200 factory floor workers on industrial action is expected within the next 10 days.
Union officials said they were shocked and dismayed after BPI bosses came back with a revised pay offer of just 2.5 per cent. Workers had already rejected an offer of 2.8 per cent in a ballot last week.
