OLD photographs of one of the last collieries to close in a North-East coalfield are needed for a mining memorabilia display.
The Customs House theatre, in South Shields, South Tyneside, is staging Shafts of Light, an exhibition celebrating the North-East's mining heritage.
Organisers are seeking pictures of the last days of the nearby Westoe Colliery, in South Shields, particularly those taken on the day the colliery's crown tower was blown up in 1994.
Anyone with photographs is asked to call Kathryn Wakeman on 0191-454 1234. Details of the free exhibition, which runs to the end of the month, are available on the same number.
