CANADIAN international Tyler Hughes will train with Darlington this week after joining the club on trial.
Quakers boss David Hodgson is keen to strengthen his defensive options with Curtis Fleming and Joey Hutchinson both injured.
Fleming is out for another three weeks with a knee injury, while Hutchinson will not play again this season after suffering knee ligament damage.
And with David McGurk unable to return from a loan spell at York City and Craig Liddle recovering from a shoulder injury, Hodgson will run the rule over Hughes.
The 23-year-old has been given special permission to train with Quakers after the Canadian domestic season ended in August.
Hughes - a central defender, who can also played on the left side of midfield - plays in the Canadian A-League with Toronto Lynx and has represented his country at Under-20 and 'B level.
Quakers reserves are in action at Notts County tomorrow afternoon (2pm) and Hodgson will hope to receive special permission to play the 6ft 1in stopper.
Midfielder Adrian Webster is likely to be involved at Meadow Lane after putting pen-to-paper on a one-month deal last week.
Leeds winger Jason St Juste impressed in last week's Durham Challenge Cup win over South Shields reserves and could also feature tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Liddle and Neil Wainwright will be fit to face Oxford on Sunday. Liddle was on the bench against Southend after Hodgson decided not to risk the influential skipper, while Wainwright could face County tomorrow after recovering from a hamstring problem.
*The Williamson Motors Stadium will host a sportsman's dinner on December 2. Ex-Quakers striker David Speedie will be guest speaker at the event, which will take place in the Ron Greener suite.
The evening will include a three-course meal and a comedian. Tickets are priced £25 each.
