AN infants school is to hold a regular fresh fruit and vegetable market in a bid to keep the community healthy.
The mini food co-op will be launched today and will be offering affordable produce.
The playground market is the idea of Easington Primary Care Trust's five-a-day and healthy communities collaborative team which aims to increase children's consumption of fruit and vegetables.
Project manager Karen Smith said: "We carried out a food-mapping exercise across the district which revealed a need for affordable fruit and vegetables." The trust's nutrition and health expert, Lucy Crystal Smith, said: "People will be able to buy at affordable prices."
