A programme of improvements and repairs to council homes is about to move into its second phase.
Since April, more than 1,000 external refurbishments have taken place on council homes in the York area.
Now the local authority is to consult the occupiers of about 300 homes in the Groves and Nunnery Lane areas on the style of the fire-resistant doors they wish to have fitted to their homes.
The move is part of an on-going programme to increase fire safety and security of flats in blocks with a shared, enclosed staircase.
Residents will be able to choose from three differing styles of door. The first doors should be fitted in early November with the work completed some time in January.
Windows will also be replaced in about 140 homes in the Groves area in the future.
