Projects that are likely to receive money following increased council tax bills on second homes have been announced.
Richmondshire District Council cut the council tax discount available to second home owners from 50 per cent to ten per cent this year.
The county council will put 80 per cent of the extra money back into communities and a list of possible projects to receive cash has now been drawn up.
Some of the money will be used to build affordable housing.
Schemes competing for a share of the money include the conversion into affordable flats of the former sports centre in Gallowgate, Richmond.
It is also suggested some of the money could be used to convert unused space above shops in Richmond Town Centre into homes.
A new childcare centre in the grounds of Hawes Primary School is likely to receive £10,000 and a further £11,000 will be used to buy eight mopeds for the Wheels2Work project.
It is proposed that £40,000 of the second homes money will be used to bring broadband to Reeth. Money will also be spent on continuing the Citizens' Advice Bureau outreach programme.
In the past 12 months, the scheme's caseworks have dealt with 1,020 people in rural towns and villages.
Richmondshire District Council leader John Blackie said: "I think it's important to recognise that the county council has been very generous in returning so much of the money to the districts where it was raised."
The schemes will be discussed at a district council meeting, in Swale House, on Tuesday, from 6.30pm.
