A RECENTLY-OPENED library is proving a hit with villagers.
The Enterprise and Development Centre in The Bye, The Grove, near Consett, opened a library three months ago.
It is stocked with more than 400 titles, from children's novels, crime stories and thrillers to reference material, which have all been donated.
Lisa Almond, 26, of Consett, who runs the service, said: "People have been really generous.
"We have fiction and non-fiction, but for some reason, the bulk of them are romances at the moment."
Consett Library's community bus also drops off 50 books at the centre that are changed every three weeks. The service is free to join and most of the books can be taken out for as long as required, without the fear of fines.
Miss Almond said: "We set it up as a small community library, essentially for older people who cannot get to Consett." For details, call (01207) 588550.
