DARLINGTON boss David Hodgson believes the terms of Clyde Wijnhard's contract will bring out the best in the Dutch striker.
The 30-year-old put pen to paper on a one-month deal last week, on a pay-as-you-play basis.
Hodgson is keen to run the rule over the ex-Leeds and Huddersfield forward before deciding on his long-term future.
And with Wijnhard keen to kick-start his career with Quakers, Hodgson is confident of reaping the benefits of the deal.
"In effect Clyde is actually with us for a month with a view to signing longer," said Hodgson.
"We already know his capabilities, but in that time we have the opportunity to asses his fitness.
"He will be wanting to do well will with us and you can see that because his attitude has been fantastic."
Wijnhard impressed on his debut, scoring in last week's 4-0 win over Southend United at the Williamson Motors Stadium.
And Hodgson has challenged the former Ajax man to further enhance his chances of earning an extended deal when Quakers travel to Oxford on Sunday.
He said: "I was delighted with Clyde's contribution on Saturday but he must prove to me that he can do that on a consistent basis."
Meanwhile, skipper Craig Liddle is winning his battle to face the Us at the weekend. The 32-year-old was on the bench against Southend after recovering from a shoulder injury.
Supporters have been reminded that Sunday's League Two clash at the Kassam Stadium is a 'Kid for a Quid' game. Under 16s - in home and away enclosures - can gain entry for £1 if purchasing tickets in advance.
* Sunday's charity match at Northallerton Town FC has been cancelled.
Actors from Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Holby City had agreed to take on a team of former Quakers stars to raise money for the Percy Hedley Foundation, a school for the physically disabled.
However, due to filming commitments, several players were forced to cancel.
