MONEY raised from a sponsored walk and family fun day has given a lift to an air ambulance service.
Mayor of Colburn Tom Henry has collected a cheque for £1,800 from publicans Morag Mackintosh and Jozsef Mozer from the Crown Inn, in Brompton-on-Swale, for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
The pair held the fun day and walk from Brompton to Richmond in August.
Mr Henry, a volunteer fundraiser for the service, said: "It is fantastic that the wider local community can work together and have fun, while raising funds for a very worthwhile local charity. The Great North Air Ambulance has three helicopters, covering North Yorkshire, Teesside, Durham, Wearside, Northumberland and Cumbria.
"The charity does not receive any government funding and currently needs to generate £2.5m every year to maintain and improve the free service to the people of the region."
Another sponsored walk will be held tomorrow from Grinton, in Swaledale, back to the Crown for pie and peas.
Anyone wanting to take part can meet at the pub at 9.30am.
