OLDER people joined a day of activities to prove you can still have fun no matter how old you are.
Using Jenny Joseph's poem, The Warning, as the theme for the day, staff from Age concern County Durham, Durham Dales Primary Care Trust and Durham County Social Care and Health invited elderly people in West Auckland to an event at The Manor House Hotel.
The idea was to mark and celebrate the National Service Framework for older people and show them what is available.
It also gave organisations the chance to learn what old people say they need in the community.
Lunch was hosted by the Willington Lunch Club. The Bishop Auckland Theatre Hooligans performed a short play showing how to stop bogus callers getting into homes.
Auckland Amblers led a walk for those who enjoy a bit of fresh air and a chair exercise session was also organised.
Ken Ross, public health specialist for the Durham Dales PCT, said: "The purpose of this event was to celebrate ageing and dispel some of the negative stereotypes of older people and myths of ageing."
