A DRIVER suffered multiple injuries after his car collided with a JCB digger and burst into flames.
The crash happened at 7.40am on Saturday, on the A167 road, near the Pity Me roundabout, Durham City.
The Peugeot 106 and the JCB were both travelling south.
Paramedics freed the car driver, a 36-year-old man who has not been identified.
He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham with chest and back injuries.
The JCB driver, a 62-year-old man from West Rainton, near Durham, was not hurt.
