VISITORS to a national park will have the chance to see live video footage from inside bird nests.
A flagpole will be erected at the site on Sutton Bank, in the North York Moors National Park, to enable the videoing to take place.
The project goes before the park's planning committee on Thursday and if approved, it will enable people going to the park's visitor centre to see live action.
Chief planning officer Val Dilcock said footage from nests throughout the park would be broadcast to promote the park's wildlife heritage.
The antennae and radio housing will measure between 25mm and 500mm on the 9m pole.
She said: "It is anticipated that flags will be shown from the pole to mitigate the visual impact of the equipment."
Trees nearby and landscaping in the vicinity will also reduce the impact she said. "It is not considered that it will be unduly prominent or have a detrimental impact on the visual character of the area.
The Civil Aviation Authority which is reponsible for the safety of the flying of gliders at Sutton Bank has been told that there are unlikely to be any significant safety implications aircaft.
Planners are recommending approval of the scheme.
