VISITORS to Bishop Auckland will be transported back in time to meet a Roman at an exhibition.
Roman Life in County Durham is the latest exhibition in The Discovery Centre, in Bishop Auckland's Market Place.
Organised by local historian Gordon Henderson and supported by Discovery Centre volunteers and Groundwork West Durham, the event starts on Thursday and runs until Saturday, November 6.
It features artefacts and replicas from Roman times including swords, armour, various clothing and regalia and a 6ft Roman catapult.
An added attraction will see a Roman greet visitors to the centre on Saturdays to answer questions on what life was like all those years ago.
Opening hours for the centre are 11am to 4pm Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. Admission is free.
