MOTORISTS are being warned of severe delays in a North-East town as preparation work gets under way for a fair.
The fair, in Yarm, near Stockton, will be moved into the High Street from 5.30pm tonight. All residents who live in the town have been notified regarding the different road closures and times of the fair.
Leaflets were also dropped around the town yesterday, reminding people to move their cars from the High Street area.
The street will be closed from 5.30pm until all the rides are moved in, which usually takes about four hours.
During this period, vehicles will be directed around the rear of High Street through West Street and Bentley Wynd.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Severe delays are expected and motorists are asked to avoid the area."
The fair will be open from 6pm until midnight on Thursday and Friday and from noon to midnight on Saturday.
