THE annual show and sale of pedigree Teeswater sheep, at Leyburn Auction Mart, saw a good crowd of buyers bidding well, with a record price of 1,700gns for a ram bred at Baudshaw Farms, bought by E. Thackery and Sons.
The judges, Richard Webber, Minehead, and Roland Verity, Ramsgill, found good competition, with Bainbridge Bros of Marrick Abbey, Richmond, taking sup-reme champion with an impeccably turned-out shearling ram. Bainbridge Bros also took first prize with a ram lamb. Wallis and Sons, Marske, Richmond, took first in the ewe or shearling class, and D and G C Newbould, first in the gimmer lamb class (also reserve champion).
It was good to note sheep were being bought to go to all parts of the UK.
