ABOUT 8,000 older people in North Yorkshire receive meals through the county council's delivery service.
Members of the authority's care and independence scrutiny committee were told the service was being developed.
A report said the hot meals on wheels service was available for two days a week, encouraging people to stay independent.
A policy had been promoted of providing meals seven days a week, with meals delivered either hot or frozen to eat on that day or heat later.
