A WOMAN rescued by helicopter after falling on rocks has been reunited with community safety wardens who helped to save her.
Last Friday, Redcar and Cleveland Mayor Madge Moses hosted a civic reception for the wardens, Tom Jones, Joanne Watson, Lee Collins and Paul Whittaker.
They were delivering leaflets in Skinningrove when Julie Pereira, who was on a winkling trip with her husband, fell on rocks. Tom called the emergency services after finding Julie, who had broken her ankle in two places. Tom and Joanne gave her their hi-viz vests to keep her warm, then Joanne alerted Lee and Paul, who directed the ambulance crew. The Coastguard helped the paramedics to the scene and an RAF helicopter air-lifted Julie, from Hardwick in Stockton, to safety.
