A COURT usher has retired after keeping a busy magistrates' court running smoothly for 15 years.
Anne Corner, of Coundon, says she has enjoyed her time at Bishop Auckland Magistrates' Court, but is looking forward to spending extra time on hobbies and with her family.
The 60-year-old was an office supervisor at the former Bakelite factory, in Newton Aycliffe, before raising sons Ian and Paul and later returning to work as an usher.
Mrs Corner and husband George, who works at 3M in Newton Aycliffe, hope to spend time with schoolteacher Paul and enjoy more foreign trips - including visiting Ian, who is serving with the Army in Germany, and six-week-old grandson Ciaron.
Mrs Corner said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed the job. It has been very interesting and nice working with people. All of the staff get on very well and made my retirement lovely, with gifts, cards and a meal out..
