A Darlington GP who secretly filmed intimate examinations of female patients today had his "unduly lenient" jail term increased by London's Criminal Appeal Court.
Describing Dr Syed Husain's conduct as a "grave breach of trust", Lord Justice Rose increased his sentence from three and a half years to four and a half.
Sitting with Mr Justice Richards and Mr Justice Bean, he said the appropriate term at the Crown Court would have been five and a half years jail, but he cut that because Husain was facing the stress of being sentenced a second time.
The aggravating features, said Lord Justice Rose, included the adverse impact on the victims and the fact two were young girls and another a 74-year-old woman with cognitive impairment.
Husain, 30, of Lazenby Grove, Darlington, was jailed at Leeds Crown Court in May after pleading guilty to five counts of indecent assault, 10 of making an indecent photograph of a child and eight of possessing an indecent photo of a child.
Lord Justice Rose today agreed with submissions made by Richard Horwell, on behalf of the Attorney General Lord Goldsmith QC, that his original sentence was "unduly lenient".
