CHILDREN taking part in a national computer project are joining in workshops this week testing the impact of technology on standards in schools.
The youngsters, all aged between seven and 12, are taking part in Super Learning Week at Willington library to promote the Information and Communication Technology Test Bed project, which is centred on Parkside School.
The four-year pilot is one of three running nationally and involves both primary and secondary children.
Next week's workshops will be run by specialist staff from Durham County Council's learning resources team and the library service.
Rosemary Hoban, library group managers, said: "Children will be able to enjoy a fun learning experience, join in a variety of activities, find out what's on offer in the library and use and develop information literacy skills.
"As part of the project, Crook and Willington libraries have received wireless laptop computers for use by both children and the wider community.
"Super Learning Week will allow the local community to see the variety of learning resources available in the library and discover how they can be used."
North-West Durham MP Hilary Armstrong is visiting a workshop on Friday afternoon.
