A FARMER'S wife, who was described as always willing to give a helping hand to other people, has died at the age of 79.
Jessie Bainbridge's sudden death came as a shock to her family, as she appeared to be in good health at her home in Eggleston, near Barnard Castle.
All of her life was connected with the land, even from childhood.
Her late father, Harry Miller, ran Neasham Springs, near Darlington, a farm which still remains in the family.
Mrs Bainbridge was well-known for helping a number of good causes in the local and also for supporting efforts to help poor regions overseas.
Her husband Arthur, who is a retired farmer, said yesterday: "Some people would be surprised if they knew how many charities she helped.
"She liked to give support anywhere it was needed."
Mrs Bainbridge also leaves four sons and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral service is due to be held at Eggleston Methodist Chapel tomorrow at 2pm.
Donations in lieu of flowers will be accepted for the chapel and the Methodist Relief and Development Fund, which sends money to poor regions overseas.
