TEENAGER Sarah Whittaker swapped her school desk for a seat of power yesterday.
The 15-year-old, a pupil at Greenfield School Community and Arts College, in Newton Aycliffe, near Darlington, spent the day with Durham County Council leader Ken Manton.
The event aimed to create a greater understanding of the roles of elected members for young people, while the council learns more about the issues facing the youth of today.
Sarah shadowed Coun Manton as he was being interviewed by BBC TV news reporter Kevin Bouquet about the referendum for a North-East Regional Assembly, and the changes it would bring to local government.
