POLICE have issued a fresh warning over the use by fraudsters of so-called card skimming devices at cashpoints.
The devices are attached to card slots and read information, which can be downloaded on to another card In order to withdraw cash.
They are used in conjunction with pinhole cameras that record the PIN number.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said it had dealt with numerous incidents of card skimming since the beginning of the year.
Amounts of cash withdrawn as a result have ranged from £20 or £30, up to £400.
Police in Darlington, Teesside, and Durham have also recorded complaints from members of the public
