A CHARITY that helps people recover from serious injuries is facing a recruitment crisis.
Rehab UK, a brain injury service based in Newcastle, provides vital rehabilitation services for individuals who have experienced brain injuries by helping them back into employment.
However, a shortage of prospective staff has left bosses unable to provide some new services for clients until the right people are recruited.
It is the second time in as many years that the charity has faced a major problem.
In 2002, it nearly closed after running up a £350,000 deficit.
Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, and has more than 50 clients receiving care and support.
Rehab UK manager Jonathan Wade said: "We are planning an expansion of services so we can serve more people who have experienced brain injury and make a difference to their lives and help them progress along the recovery road which, in some cases, takes years."
It is looking for support workers and a community services manager. An open day will take place at its offices in Melbourne House, Melbourne Street, Newcastle, on Tuesday, from noon to 8pm.
