THE director of a flagship North-East arts venue who was questioned after an allegation of indecent assault will get his job back, it was revealed last night.
Stephen Snoddy, director of the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, was arrested at his offices in the Gateshead building in August.
The 44-year-old was questioned by Metropolitan Police over an allegation of sexual assault supposed to have taken place in London on July 9. He was also suspended from his job while the matter was investigated.
Police confirmed on Tuesday that no further action would be taken against the married father-of-three.
A statement released by the Baltic last night said: "Baltic is delighted that Stephen Snoddy will be returning to his post as director.
"This has been a personally distressing time for Stephen and his family and it is great news that the matter has at last been resolved.
"We now look forward to Stephen's return and working with him to continue to deliver an exciting and successful future for Baltic.
Mr Snoddy is due to resume from November 8. He declined to comment.
The director of finance and resources, Andrew Lovett, took up the role of acting director at the Baltic while Mr Snoddy was suspended.
