neighbours' worries over plans to build a butchers' processing unit at a farm in the moorland village of Levisham, have resulted in members of the North York Moors National Park's planning committee deciding to make a site visit before making a decision.
The application, by The Ginger Pig Ltd, of Grange Farm, had been recommended for approval by park planning officers, but members were told of objections by two residents who were concerned about an increase in stock on the farm, increased traffic, and felt the scheme was more of an industrial enterprise than farm diversficiation.
The company's agent said in a report to the committee that the development was needed to house more advanced equipment.
Another application for a building and dutch barn extension at the farm was also deferred for a site visit.
