NURSES will be offering blood pressure and blood sugar tests at a health promotion event next week.
The event will take place in Askrigg Village Hall on Thursday, from 1pm.
The organiser, district nurse Tanya Wilbor, said the event was being repeated after it proved a success last year.
"There was a wide range of help and advice available from the various organisations that kindly gave up their time," she said.
"Several people who needed smoke detectors had their names passed on to the fire service, and the Home Energy Agency had 11 referrals for home assessment.
"This year, we are expanding and have representatives from pensions services, domestic violence, pharmacy and much more.
"In addition, our nurses will be offering everyone the opportunity to have their blood pressure and blood sugar checked, and advice on further management, depending on their results."
Anyone who needs a lift to the event is asked to call (01969) 622125.
