THE Quakers face the daunting prospect of a trip to top of the table Swansea on Saturday with what can only be described as a makeshift defence.
The shoulder injury suffered by club captain Craig Liddle has turned out to be worse than first thought and he is to be sidelined for a month. Two other key defenders - Curtis Fleming and Joey Hutchinson are also injured.
Darlingttn's current defensive frailties were plain to see in the first half of Tuesday's night 1-1 draw at Notts County and in last Saturday's home defeat by Bury.
But manager David Hodgson was quick to defend his team: "What we've got at the back at the moment is three kids and they dealt with everything in the second half," he said.
Quakers' revival was inspired by the Boro old boys. Neil Maddison ruled the midfield and striker Alun Armstrong was on the end of a Adolfo Gregorio cross to equalise.
