Darlington Mowden Park are hoping to have a winger from the Newcastle Falcons Academy for tomorrow's National Three North match at Fylde.

But it will not be Amarveer Ladhar, who played for them several times last season, as he has been called up to play for India in the Asian Rugby Tournament in Hong Kong.

Although born in England and educated at Newcastle Royal Grammar School, 21-year-old Ladhar's parentage qualifies him for India and he is to play against China in the opening match on Wednesday.

India, whose struggles on a tour of England last year included a 153-0 defeat at Leicester, are coached by former Tynedale player Alan Gledson.

Mowden are uncertain whether Tom Lauriston will be fit to return on the wing and there is still no sign of Pedro Salahshouri, who has been injured all season.

Darlington have a doubt about prop Dan Miller with an ankle problem for the visit of leaders Halifax.

But Joe Oselton and Paul Shepherd are available, and they have also signed a new loose head in last season's Newcastle University captain Paul Scott.

Paul Radford is carrying an ankle injury after playing for the Army in midweek, so Tom Wilkinson will start in the second row and Lee Davis will be at outside centre, with Richard Lang dropping to the bench.

Blaydon look likely to be without Dan Clappison for the visit of third-placed Macclesfield, so Nick Wainwright will switch to fly half with Pete Kilburn coming in at centre.

Hooker Matt Hall and flanker Hayden Cullen have recovered from injury and another back row man, Gavin Stainsby, has rejoined from Ryton.

Middlesbrough will be hoping for their second league win of the season at home to North One's bottom club, Altrincham Kersal.

In North Two East Hartlepool's top two clubs meet in league combat for the first time, with Rovers having home advantage.

There was a time 17 years ago when West were in National Division Three and Rovers were in North One that they were only a couple of divisions apart.

Then West went up a couple of notches and Rovers went down a few to wallow in Durham and Northumberland One before last season's promotion.

Now they are locked together on two points from five games and things will not look good for the losers.
