PENSIONS Minister Malcolm Wicks was in Durham City yesterday to meet a group of older people and outline changes in services for elderly people.
The Government is consulting the public on its new document, Link Age, which is designed to inform thinking on services for elderly people.
Mr Wicks was at Trevelyan College, Durham, at a meeting with pensioners arranged by Durham County Council's Social Care and Health Service and Age Concern.
The Government is devising a strategy on how public services can be tailored to meet the needs and expectations of older people.
Councillor Christine Smith, Durham County Council's cabinet member for strong, healthy and safe communities, said: "In County Durham, we are already developing some of the types of joined-up services which the document is seeking to promote.
"We want to know what older people think of these developments and how we should build upon them."
