Mounting concern over a scheme to create a waste transfer station on a former airfield has sparked more than 70 objections from residents.
Tockwith and Wilstrop Parish Council has also lodged objections in the "strongest terms" to the scheme which has been tabled by BCB Environmental Services Ltd.
The company has applied for planning permission to establish the project at Marston Moor Business Park in Rudgate, Tockwith, near York.
About two years ago residents fought off a planning application to create a stone crushing plant in the same area.
The parish council is worried that the applicant intends to increase the operation by 50 per cent over the next five years.
"The site is less than 500 metres from the nearest residential dwellings," points out the parish council.
"If assurances can be given by all concerned parties that the enterprise is completely safe then there would be no problem.
"But the public do want to be assured that this is the case".
North Yorkshire planning chief Mike Moore is recommending approval when the application is considered by North Yorkshire County councillors at Northallerton on Tuesday.
The report to councillors says that the applicant has confirmed a maxiumum of 36 vehicles per day will visit the site.
