Workers at a Teesside factory will vote next week on whether to go on strike following the collapse of pay talks.
Bosses at British Polythene Industries (BPI) Stockton, also known as Visqueen, rejected a request for a 3 per cent pay increase and instead have imposed a 2.5 per cent rise on staff.
Around 200 workers at the plastics firm will take part in a ballot starting next Tuesday over strike action and a possible overtime ban.
Union officials said the vote would take two weeks and that strike action could take place soon afterwards at the plant on Yarm Road.
A final round of peace talks took place last week but failed to resolve the long-running pay dispute involving factory floor workers.
