AN engineering plant has received an award from one the industry's leading authorities in recognition of its efforts to nurture staff.
Electrolux, in Spennymoor, has been awarded Accreditation standard by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) for its commitment to the development of professional engineers.
One of the company's most successful aspects of development is a four-year training scheme for graduates and qualified engineers.
Neil Coates, research and development project manager at Electrolux outdoor products, said: "We're delighted that we have achieved the maximum accreditation possible for our training scheme, which shows how committed we are to professional training of engineers.
"With a practical training programme we get strong technical ability and really skilled engineers.
"This helps us develop as a company and has special significance as there are not many big manufacturers left in the area."
