AS THE term ends, one east Durham school is giving itself a pat on the back for a number of pupils' successes.
The year 11 netball team at Shotton Hall School, in Peterlee, won the Easington District Netball tournament.
The team included Rachel Stour, Jacqui Thornton, Danielle Border, Jade Mosely and Georgina Horn.
The team was also well supported by Laura Watt, Katherine Hind and Amy Fletcher from year ten.
In gymnastics, Danielle Border has notched up considerable success in a national gymnastics competition where she came third overall but won gold, silver and bronze medals in individual disciplines.
There was also a treat for the school when former student Daniel Carney gave a piano recital and was accompanied by Freyja Purchase on the flute, both students are now pupils at the renowned Cheethams School in Manchester.
Student Michelle Fullard recently gained three firsts and a second in the English Schools Swimming Association trials.
Michelle's firsts came in the 100m freestyle, 200m individual medley and 100m backstroke.
A spokesman at the school said: "This is a marvellous achievement and signals the fact that Michelle should soon be swimming for her country.''
