A SCHOOL is celebrating after winning a seven-a-side area football competition for the first time in more than 20 years.
The year 11 boys' team from the Wensleydale School, in Leyburn, beat Richmond, Thirsk and Bedale schools to get to the final of the David Chapman Memorial Cup.
In the final, they overcame a team from Allertonshire School in Northallerton to lift the trophy. Lee Wasden, head of PE at Wensleydale, said: "We are one of the smallest schools in the county - this is a huge achievement for us."
The same boys were county champions when they were in year nine.
