A MAN indecently assaulted two young girls after "grooming" them with treats and trips to Disneyland.

Anthony Harrison, 39, was yesterday jailed for six years after a court heard how several of the offences took place when the County Durham girls were invited to stay at his London flat.

Durham Crown Court heard the offences stretched back up to ten years, when the girls were as young as ten and 11.

But they only came to light in April, when police searched Harrison's home in Skirlaw Road, Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

Shaun Dodds, prosecuting, said officers found videos demonstrating an interest in young girls, one featuring indecent photographs.

Inquiries were made and the girls were traced. Both made statements to police which led to Harrison facing a series of specimen sex charges.

He admitted asking them to pose for the pictures, but he told police they were taken for his own benefit and not for commercial sale.

Mr Dodds said Harrison's behaviour included showering and sleeping with the girls, often at his London flat. Harrison took one of them to EuroDisney, in Paris, and the other to Disneyland, in Florida.

Both girls, now aged 18 and 20, gave statements outlining the traumatic effect that Harrison's actions have had on them, including a deep distrust of men.

Chris Baker, mitigating, said Harrison hoped to receive help from the probation service. He admitted five specimen counts of indecent assault, two of indecency with a child and one of taking indecent photographs of a child.

Jailing him for a total of six years, the judge, Mr Justice Andrew Smith, told him: "These ladies will have to live with the trauma of what you did for a long time, maybe forever."

He ordered that Harrison should never work with children and placed him on the sex offenders register for life.
