BUDDING artists and photographers will soon have their work hanging in one of Darlington's most historic buildings.

Winning entries in the third Lingfield Point art competition are set to be displayed on the walls of the spectacular art deco Lingfield House.

This year's competition was open to students on a range of visual arts national diploma programmes. Students at Darlington College of Technology were victorious.

Artist and photographer Daniel Scott took first prize in both categories, narrowly beating runners-up Christian Kotze, Leanne Pearson and Alec Doherty.

John Orchard, director of Marchday Group, owners of Lingfield Point, said: "As always, the standard of entries was extremely high and it was a very difficult decision to choose the winners.

"We are delighted to be able to display many of the entries in Lingfield House, where they will be enjoyed on a daily basis."
