POLICE yesterday seized drugs with a street value of £60,000 from a house in Chilton.
A Durham Police spokesman said officers raided the house and found 100 cannabis plants plus equipment used to cultivate them.
The spokesman said a 32-year-old man was arrested and was being held at Newton Aycliffe police station. He will be questioned today.
Inspector Phil Curtis said the raid was part of an ongoing high-profile campaign to tackle drug dealing, disorder and anti-social behaviour in the area.
He said that on Saturday night, officers recovered small quantities of amphetamine and cannabis from a house in Ferryhill.
A man in his late twenties was arrested but released on police bail pending further inquiries.
