MALE staff at a village school may have suffered a blow to their pride - but they still raised hundreds of pounds for charity.
Five teachers at Hurworth School donned a variety of women's outfits after pupils gave them a startling makeover.
Pupils contributed to a non-uniform day, as well as paying to see their teachers in somewhat less formal circumstances than usual on Friday.
Teacher Rita Rees said more than £600 was raised to go towards helping underprivileged youngsters in eastern Europe.
Coverdale house won the event, with teacher Andrew Tye given his makeover by year seven pupils Jessica Atkinson, Charlotte Lavin, Jessica Cotty, Carla Jenkinson and Jennifer Taylor.
