A TOWN mayor has raised much- needed funds for two good causes.
The Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Christine Woods, handed over cash from the town council's annual appeal to Ferryhill Brass Band and towards the Ferryhill Aged People's coach trip.
The band has been part of the town for many years and Coun Woods donated £1,000 to its coffers. Its next performance will be during the Remembrance Day service, in the market place, on Sunday, November 14.
The outing is organised by Ferryhill Town Council every year and a £400 donation ensures that this year's trip will again be operated free of charge.
The trip has traditionally gone to South Shields every year, but the council is asking residents to suggest alternative destinations.
Ideas put forward inlcude Redcar and Whitby. To suggest a venue, call the town hall on (01740) 652157.
