ARCHITECTS Dewjoc have won the contract for the first office building at Sir John Hall's business park in Wynyard.
The park, which Sir John predicted could create tens of thousands of jobs in the long-term, is on a site near the former Samsung factory.
Dewjoc, based in Newcastle, has designed a four-floor office building with air conditioning, showers on each floor and access for the disabled.
Dewjoc director Peter Swift said: "We wanted to design a building fitting for the region's premier business community, combining cutting-edge design with first-class facilities to appeal to the high-calibre businesses that Wynyard Business Park will undoubtedly attract."
It is hoped the first office building on the site will attract blue-chip clients as well as businesses seeking to locate their corporate head offices at Wynyard.
The management team at the park have made the initial investment in the first property in the hope it will attract further investors to the site.
Work started on the first office block last month and it is expected to be completed by March.
Sir John has said that he wants the 500-acre business park to be somewhere for people to work, rest and play.
It is a joint venture between Cameron Hall Developments and Industrial Securities.
