WINTER is always a hard time for our feathered friends, so youngsters on half-term holiday found themselves being schooled in what makes tasty titbits for garden visitors.
Staff at the Middlesbrough Council-run Newham Grange Leisure Farm, in Coulby Newham, yesterday taught visitors to the centre the art of making bird cake cones.
The youngsters were taught that the cones can be favourites with a variety of birds which can be found in the garden.
